Ruth Butler was one of the earliest residents of Sun City. She and her husband bought a home the first day that the community was opened on January 1, 1960. They founded the cycle group: The Sun City Peddle Pushers.

Ruth also wrote a narrative describing their visit to Sun City in 1959, purchase of a home and move to Sun City on July 4, 1960, and life in the early days.
