The Sedona Westerners committee was appointed to work with the Forest Service officials of the 1970's, trying to clear up some of the confusion of place names of the Oak Creek-Sedona region. The oldtimers pretty much agree on the pioneer names of places and do not always agree about why they were named as they were. When the book was written, there were few people who had personal remembrances of the 1870's, when many of these places were named. The authors had to depend on stories told to them by the ones who were living here at that time. Index of people and places. |
